Drones4Safety, Labyrinth, Rapid and 5D-Aerosafe will hold a joint session at the 11th EASN International Conference on “Innovation in Aviation & Space to the Satisfaction of the European Citizens”. The event takes place from the 1st until the 3rd of September 2021. These projects are funded by the European Call for proposals MG-2-8-2019 on Innovative applications of drones for ensuring safety in transport.
In the previous decades innovations applied to Unmanned aviation systems (UAS) have reached a significantly sophisticated level. This is having a positive effect on various aspects of human life, including safety, being one of the most important one. Indeed, the European Work Programme 2018-2019 launched an invitation for proposals (MG-2-8-2019) to address drone projects conducting research and software development to increase the safety of public transports in the EU of both cargo and passengers. Projects in this regard are included by Drones4Safety, Labyrinth, Rapid and 5D-AeroSafe.
In the 11th EASN International Conference, this cluster of projects will be presented by their representatives to describe their in-progress technologies and goals. The Conference will open its virtual rooms to speakers and participants from the 1st until the 3rd of September 2021 (the official programme is available on the website at this link). The joint session will be held on 2nd September 2021 from 16:55 to 18:15 CET and will be moderated by Drones4Safety. Presentations will be followed by a round table where public will be able to ask questions from the presenters. To follow the session, you can register at this link.
Each project will give a presentation as follows:
· Labyrinth: Unmanned Traffic Management 4D Path Planning Technologies for Drone Safety and Security in Transport EU project Labyrinth (presenter: Luis Moreno)
· Rapid: Towards Validation of Drone Embedded “Sense and Detect” Hazard Perception (presenter: James Riordan)
· Drones4Safety: Inspection Drones for Ensuring Safety in Transport Infrastructures (presenter: Emad Samuel Malki Ebeid)
· 5D-Aerosafe: Applications offered by 5D-AeroSafe project for airports and waterways safety (presenter: Anna Nikodym-Bilska, Philippe Chrobocinski, Effie Makri).
The cluster of projects mentioned above have the common goal to increase safety and security of the overall civil transport system (including cargo and passengers). In addition, they will foster the European economic growth by unleashing new markets, new industries, and new jobs. This will comply with the legal frameworks and build knowledge and acceptance within society for the steps described within U-Space.
