DRONES4SAFETY AT ICRA 2021 CONFERENCE

Drones4Safety is pleased to announce that the University of Southern Denmark (project leader of D4S) will virtually take part at the ICRA 2021 Conference with a team composed of Nicolai Iversen, Aljaz Kramberger, Oscar Bowen Schofield and Emad Samuel Malki Ebeid (project coordinator of D4S). The team will present a paper entitled “Pneumatic-Mechanical System in UAVs: Autonomous Power Line Sensor Unit Deployment” during the dedicated session to be held on 1st June at 11:45 (GMT +1). Take the opportunity to attend this session! Click on this link.

The paper presented by the SDU team shows a novel modular mechanical system utilizing pneumatic as the actuation source to deploy a sensor unit to a power line using a UAV, with aid of an autonomous alignment algorithm. The results show that the UAV can facilitate the sensor unit, and is capable of deploying it to the power line in an autonomous manner. In addition, the work leaves opportunity for expanding to further applications in the future. Find the paper on our dedicated section “Scientific Paper”.

ICRA stands for International Conference on Robotics and Automation. Indeed, this conference is a great event with excellent technical and social programs, reporting original research results on all aspects of robotics and automation. Due to the pandemic COVID-19, ICRA 2021 Conference will take place from May 30 to June 5 in a hybrid format, including meetings online and on-site in the Xi’an International Convention and Exhibition Center in Xi’an China.
